Sunday 2nd October 2022 - Andy Irvine
The Kitchen Garden Cafe, York Road, Kings Heath B14 7SA: Sunday 2nd October 2022
Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as “a tradition in himself.” Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his over 50-year career.
From Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, his duo with Paul Brady in the later 70s and then from Patrick Street to Mozaik, LAPD and Usher’s Island, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians.
As a soloist, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence, Woody Guthrie. To quote The Irish Times, “Often copied, never equalled”, his repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dances and a compelling canon of his own self-penned songs.

Tuesday 4th October 2022 - Hungrytown
The Roses Theatre, Sun Street, Tewkesbury GL20: Tuesday 4th October 2022
After more than 15 years of world-wide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson--otherwise known as the folk duo Hungrytown--have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting.
“It’s great to hear an act eschew sentimentality in favor of honesty and to prove that you don’t have to go raiding the memory of others to find the stuff that really good songs are made of,” writes Jedd Beaudoin of Popmatters.
Lyricist Rebecca Hall is credited with compositions “that sound as timeless as any traditional songs” (Northern Sky, UK) while producer/multi-instrumentalist/husband Ken Anderson is lauded for his “remarkable affinity for instrumental embellishment” (No Depression) and for crafting Hungrytown’s “gorgeous vocal harmonies” (Folk and Roots, UK).

Saturday 19th November 2022 - Katie Grace Harris
The Old Baptist Chapel, Church Street, Tewkesbury GL20 5SN: Saturday 19th November 2022
with Special Guest Mike Weaver
Katie Grace Harris is a gifted multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and storyteller with a fast growing reputation in the UK folk world. Her sound can best be described as earthy, piano and accordion accompanied English Folk. Her debut album 'The Toledo Sessions' is released this Autumn, and she will be playing songs from it at this special intimate concert.
"For much of my childhood, we drove around as a family of four in an inherited, dark blue Triumph Toledo, with Nan and Grandad often squeezed in too for good measure, said Katie. Hence the name of the album. "It was a special car because in it I gained my love for singing and stories. Dad and I sang songs from James Taylor, Ralph McTell and The Spinners whilst on our way to collect Mum from late nursing shifts. When we had to make less exciting trips in the car, Mum would make up stories to distract us, Hughie Jones’s song ‘Ellan Vannin’ was a regular favourite of ours and it captures perfectly this fantastic combination of singing and storytelling - I have recorded it as the first track."

Thursday 24th November 2022 - Ellie Gowers
Evesham Town Hall, Vine Street, Evesham WR11 4RL: Thursday 24th November 2022
Ellie is a songwriter and guitarist from Warwickshire. What grew from a childhood love of literature and traditional folk song is a carefully crafted and emotionally mature catalogue of original material, referencing artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Laura Marling.
Bringing to the stage a strong voice full of expression and maturity, her songs are written with sociological, ecological, and personal themes in mind. These songs, at times, are sensitive and tender, but are not without the fiery and darker discourse that have seen Ellie labelled “dynamic” and “one to watch”.
In the last two years, Ellie has released the EP From Here on Out and followed that with her latest single Against the Tide which earned her a TedX talk. Both of these were welcomed with a good reception from listeners. These songs have been toured widely, both in headline shows and support slots for critically acclaimed artists, up and down the UK.

Saturday 4th March 2023 - Steve Knightley
Wychwood Folk Club, The Tiddy Hall, Ascott-u-Wychwood OX7 6AG: Saturday 4th March 2023
Steve is a multi-award-winning singer-songwriter/musician and founder member of folk/acoustic roots trail-blazers ‘Show of Hands’ described by Peter Gabriel as ‘one of the great English bands’.
A constant throughout Steve’s work is his ability to root his songs in time and place, notably the West Country where he was raised. Knightley does not see himself as above or apart from those who come to see him play. “There might be someone who’s dragged a person out of a car crash that day; or a single mother raising kids. Out there, there are more tales of bravery and perseverance than most singer-songwriters can muster up in a lifetime.”
In 2006, Knightley and Beer were voted ‘Greatest Ever Devonians’, beating a list of strong candidates that included Sir Francis Drake and Agatha Christie to the accolade. Again with Beer, and Show of Hands band-mate Miranda Sykes, Knightley was presented in 2015 with an Honorary Doctorate from Plymouth University for services to music.

Thursday 9th March 2023 - Sarah Jane Scouten
Chapel Arts Centre, Lower Borough Walls, Bath BA1 1QR: Thursday 9th March 2023
Four-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, Sarah Jane Scouten’s music delivers a signature mix of vintage folk and country music, with modern sounds and subjects.
An ever expanding palette brings a freshness to her brand of ambient indie Americana - or “space-country” as she likes to call it. It’s as relevant to today as it is rooted in the music of her forebears. Touring throughout North America and Europe, this seasoned performer boasts a top-notch live band and considerable acclaim for her last four full-length albums.
Her fourth album “Confessions”, recorded in Toronto with veteran producer Andre Wahl, is a further exploration of Americana sounds and song forms, ranging from indie-pop and folk rock to gritty hints of 70’s David Bowie and T-Rex. Scouten doesn’t lose herself at the helm of so many influences, but ties it together by invoking Sturgill Simpson, classic Tom Petty and Emmylou Harris’ Wrecking Ball.
